The Emotional Freedom Technique

Emotional Freedom Technique or EFT is an offshoot of Thought Field Therapy. It was developed by Gary Craig, a minister and personal trainer. It is a very effective energy psychology technique. EFT works by accessing the more primitive parts of the clients brain and therefore work on the subconscious processes rather than focusing on the cognitive and conscious prefrontal cortex. It also accesses the subtle energies of the acupressure / acupuncture points and the meridian system in Chinese medicine.

All negative emotions are felt through a disruption of the body's energy. And physical pain and disease are intricately connected to negative emotions. Health problems create feedback – physical symptoms cause emotional distress, and unresolved emotional problems manifest themselves through physical symptoms. So, the body's health must be approached as a whole. You cannot treat the symptoms without addressing the cause, and vice-versa. Unfortunately the western medicine pays very little attention to disruptions in the body’s energy flow, nor does it give much weight to emotional causes. These causes, of course, are the centerpiece of EFT.

EFT is a tool of tapping specific meridian points with customized to a client needs statements. Statements are repeated while tapping and this helps eliminating the negative emotions and physical symptoms that stem from the energy disruption. Tapping on these meridian points - while concentrating on accepting and resolving the negative emotions - will access your body's energy, restoring it to a balanced state. EFT combined with Reiki brings positive results in eliminating layers of believes and behaviors which quite often define us, hiding the real nature of I AM.

EFT was originally developed to reduce the therapy process from months/years down to minutes/hours. As emotional problems faded, both physical health and personal performance improved (often dramatically). As a result, EFT is spreading quickly among the healing community. It is an emotional version of acupressure wherein certain meridian release points are gently stimulated by tapping on them with the fingertips.

EFT is an excellent tool to reduce or even eliminate physical pains and discomforts. However, having pain may be a sign of a serious condition which definitely should be checked first by a medical professional. EFT practitioner does not treat or diagnose illnesses. Understanding body/mind/spirit as one system, EFT practitioner chooses approaches to balance the energy as the energy distortion is a probable source of pain.
